adults. Currently, the main staff at the office includes Director Sharon Olson and Study Abroad Advisor Lauryn White. In addition, there are two Peer Advisors who have personally studied abroad and provide guidance and advise to students seeking to go abroad. On the office’s main website, students are able to explore the different programs, participate in information sessions, meet with an advisor, and apply to study abroad. The goal of this project is to increase CSULB students’ knowledge about the Study Abroad Office, studying abroad, and how the organization can benefit them.
One reason why many students choose not to study abroad is financial reasons. Contrary to popular belief, studying abroad is rather affordable. Financial aid and numerous scholarships are available for students who need financial assistance. Furthermore, depending on the program and the location of the program, the study abroad experience may even be cheaper than living and studying in Southern California. The CSULB Study Abroad office has an entire page dedicated to explaining financial aid and scholarships.

Getting started is also very simple. On the main website, there is a video that gives general study abroad information to students. If students have any further questions, they are welcome to drop into the office (Foundation Building #185) or email the office (studyabroad@csulb.edu) to set up a virtual appointment with an advisor.
